Dear Riverview Families,
Due to elevated levels of wildfire smoke, with air quality readings currently fluctuating at levels near 150 on the Air Quality Index (AQI), the Tolt Dam Evacuation Drill scheduled for this morning at Carnation Elementary, Tolt Middle School and the Riverview Learning Center has been cancelled.
Riverview School District uses air quality monitors located at our campuses in both Duvall and Carnation. These monitors provide us with real-time data to guide decisions on outdoor activities. These monitors can be viewed by visiting the Riverview School District website.
Riverview follows state and regional guidelines when determining whether outdoor activities need to be adjusted:
AQI 0-100: Normal outdoor activities may continue.
AQI 101-150: Outdoor time may be limited, with accommodations provided for students with asthma or respiratory conditions.
AQI 151 and above: All outdoor activities or events are moved indoors, rescheduled, or canceled.
To minimize indoor exposure when levels are high, schools will keep doors and windows closed and adjust ventilation systems as needed. We continue to monitor air quality conditions closely and will adjust outdoor activities when necessary.
Thank you for your support in helping us keep our students safe and healthy.
